I created this art photograph in southern Ethiopia. One morning, early in the morning, I decided to go to the heights of the cliffs surrounding the camp where I had been living for several days. I knew that the geladas were as early risers as I was. I was alone, walking along a steep path, when suddenly I saw this gelada sitting on a rock. He was contemplating the Rift Valley.
The scene was breathtaking. I immediately thought of the title 'The Awakening of the Wise Man'. It was so natural. I entered the world of contemplation and wisdom.
