The Story of the Collection
There is a Texan saying that states « Everything is bigger in Texas« . Cowboy hats, boots, ranches, open spaces, buildings, and cars. Psychologically, Texans have a very strong personality. I have been adopted by Texas; thus, I know what I am talking about.
Even the Texas landscapes are huge. Natural expanses stretch as far as the eye can see. Texas has extraordinary natural wonders that I never tire of photographing. Whether it is the Palo Duro canyon to the north, the Bald Cypress forests to the east, the Big Bend National Park to the south, or the sand dunes of Monahans in the center, these places are incredible.
Since everything is bigger in Texas, the distances I travel are often great. I take great pleasure in exploring deserted roads that offer me picturesque views or unusual encounters in unlikely bars or shops.
Texans are very friendly people. When I walk the countryside in search of landscapes to immortalize with my photographs, I often encounter beautiful experiences that will remain forever engraved in my memories.
Photographing Texas landscapes takes great time and perseverance. I used to say that these landscapes do not give themselves easily to a first-time photographer. It is necessary to return several times to the same place to understand the aura, to experience the pulsations of the earth, to feel the energies emanating from this state unlike any other. I am very fortunate to have lived in Texas for several years. I think I finally understood how to photograph this state and how to show my passion for this region of southern United States that I love so much.
This collection of Texas art photographs was inspired by my many travels. I chose my style shades of blacks and whites because Texas must be shown in a direct way; a bit like the Texans. If a Texan has something to say, he does not bother with frills. He says what he has to say directly.
Texas is my land through adoption. I hope that these photographs of art render him the tribute which is due to this incredible state.
